Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Manufacturing Engineer will play a key role in supporting and improving manufacturing operations by optimizing processes, ensuring product quality, and enhancing equipment efficiency. This position involves hands-on troubleshooting, data analysis, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement in production processes, especially on our extrusion coating and converting lines. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in extrusion and web handling, a problem-solving mindset, and a willingness to work in a dynamic production environment.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- 1. Process Optimization & Improvement
- Assist in the development and optimization of production processes (esp. extrusion coating) to improve productivity, quality, and cost efficiency.
- Analyze production data to identify inefficiencies and implement process enhancements.
- Support the implementation of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies for continuous improvement.
- 2. Equipment & Production Support
- Monitor machine performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement corrective actions to maintain smooth production flow.
- Provide technical support for equipment maintenance, upgrades, installation, and troubleshooting.
- Assist in the design, testing, and validation of new materials, equipment, and process modifications.
- 3. Quality & Compliance
- Work with the quality & production team to ensure products meet required specifications and industry standards.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), set up instructions, and other documentation to ensure consistency in operations.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements in all aspects of manufacturing.
- 4. As-needed support of other needs of the organization
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's (B.S.) or Associates (A.S.) in:
- Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering preferred.
PREFERRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
- Experience 0-5 years
- Knowledge of plastics extrusion, web handling, converting, and thermoplastic resins
- Strong analytical skills with experience in data analysis and process improvement methodologies.
- Six Sigma
- Lean Manufacturing
- ISO/IATF
- Microsoft Office Suite, CAD (2D & 3D), Minitab
- Familiarity with process modeling and automation technologies is a plus.
