Winder Operator
Job Title: Winder Operator
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Analyze work orders for requirements and determine production activities. Assign activities or tasks to helpers.
- Read job orders, or standard charts to determine product specifications, work holding arrangement, cutting speeds, feed rates, and cutting tools to be used.
- Complete production paperwork noting start and stop times, downtime, raw material information. Paperwork can be done while the machine is running.
- Work rolls with sled and pushers to position and secure rolls in chucks. Thread machine with material.
- Start and cycle machine to verify operation specified, move controls to adjust position and movement of tools during machine operation.
- Visually check for correct profile, and check with all crew members for proper product appearance.
- Moves controls, cams, and stops to set rotation speeds and feed rates and to control tool and work piece movement for specified operations.
- Starts machine and moves controls to adjust positions and movements of tools during machine operation.
- Feed products between feed rolls.
- Verifies conformance of material to specifications.
- Decides on station and timing of each operation to assure efficient use of tools and time.
- Computes such data as dimensions, rotation speeds, and feed rates
- Visually inspect material for defect and adjust machine variables as needed. Flag discrepant material.
- Responsible for the quality of the product. Process owner of producing products to customer specifications.
- May perform regular clean-up duties.
- Must adhere to all Safety policy and procedures.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform routine maintenance on all equipment directly or indirectly related to the cell operation.
- Perform changeovers and start-up operations.
- Participate in idea program, collective system design and production meetings.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Must pass in – plant crane training and certification.
- YOU MUST HAVE STRONG ATTENTION TO DETAIL
- Must be able to lift 10 lbs. (routinely) & 75 lbs occasionally.
- Must be available for demand overtime.
- Must be flexible regarding working hours and start and finish times.
- Must be organized and able to read and follow instructions.
- Must be able to rotate to all positions and perform all tasks within the cell
MACHINERY USED:
Langston, Beloit and Cameron rewinders
CHEMICALS USED:
Acetone for the cleaning rollers.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Environment: Enclosed structure with moderate temperatures ranging from 55 degrees to 100 degrees. Higher temperatures near the oven for short periods of time. Noise levels up to 94db. All work is performed at the normal standing level.
